Information Commisioner’s Officer prosecute former leisure centre manager

A Southampton man has been prosecuted for taking sensitive medical information relating to 2000 people.  Southampton Council prosecuted the former leisure centre manager after he emailed information to his personal account upon hearing that he was to be made redundant.  The data was to be used to help set up a new Leisure Centre.    A referral scheme by GP and other Health Professional was in place at the Southampton leisure centre to provide fitness sessions to help various health conditions.  The council run leisure centre heard about his actions after receiving complaints from people who had been approached by him.  He was fined £3000 and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge and £1,376 prosecution costs.
