Data Security Risks Grow

data frame

Data security is the biggest risk for businesses for the second consecutive year, according to Symantec’s 2011 State of Security survey.

Data security was considered to be a bigger risk than traditional crime, natural disasters and even terrorism. In fact, IT-related risks made up the top three with cyber attacks in first place, followed by IT incidents caused by well-meaning insiders and then internally-generated IT-related threats.

Some 41 per cent of businesses think that data security is more important today than it was a year ago, significant compared to the 15 per cent who claimed the threat was decreasing.

Almost three-quarters of organisations had seen a data security attack in the last year, while 21 per cent said that the frequency of attacks is increasing. A previous poll by Symantec revealed that small businesses are not taking data security and recovery seriously enough…   Are you?
